Leader, Pianist, Composer (Scorpio) – out of hundreds of orchestras competing in the 40s, that of Alfredo De Angelis with his popular compositions and his ability to discover good singers would be one of the few to see great commercial success…among its various successful singers, Carlos Dante was to become its signature vocalist…there were those who accused it of being solely a dance orchestra but De Angelis was also innovative as with his dual singer teams like that of Dante – Martel who were to have notable hits like “La Pastora” and “Flores Del Alma” and “Con Alma De Tango”

Alfredo De Angelis was born in the neighborhood of Adroque, Buenos Aires…early on he impressed his parents with his musical abilities…..the talent of the young man impressed noted singer Juan Gilberti who gave him his first job as an accompanist….his first break came when he was invited to play in the orchestra of Anselmo Aieta which led to gigs in other important orchestras…on march 20, 1941 he debuted with his own orchestra at the Cafe Marzotto…that was followed by an invitation to perform on legendary radio program, Glostora Tango Club…on July 23, 1934 he recorded for the first time for the Odeon Label, an association which was to continue for 34 productive  years
