1901, September 3 – birth of JOSE BOHR

Singer, Composer, Leader, Pianist, Film Director  (Virgo) – born in Bonn Germany at the age of 1 his father, a veterinarian, moved the family to Constantinople and then to Buenos Aries and finally to Punto Arenas, Chile…he began singing on Radio Cultura accompanying himself on piano…he wrote many tangos but his biggest hit was Cascabellito which he wrote in 1924..incredulous, he received a personal telephone call from Carlos Gardel telling  him that he was recording his tango.


As actor, director and producer he participated in over 50 films in Argentina, Mexico and the United States. On January 14, 1980 on the 50th anniversary of the premiere of his film “Sombras de Gloria”, the Academy of Hollywood awarded him an “Oscar” in recognition for his career. He spent his later years in Denmark with his wife and children and died in Oslo Norway at the age of 93.
